Personal Protection Training

A Personal Protection Dog uses knowledge acquired thru training to protect its handler. These dogs are trained to quickly become friendly toward a once threatening man when he becomes friendly. Another example would be when an agitator who has just gotten bitten by a dog during a training lesson while wearing protective underclothing gear, walks over to the same dog in a friendly manner after the lesson is over (with gear still on) and pets the dog without getting bitten. The protection dog is put in many scenarios during their training which the dog may encounter when in a real-life threatening situation. These scenarios prepare the dog for anything that could happen. The Hold & Bark Protection Dog is basically the same as a Personal Protection Dog but do not bite. These dogs will hold a person in place by knocking them down and standing on them while barking in a monotone bark (one bark right after the other). They are trained to never bite in any situation. With this type of protection dog there will not be any bite liability to worry about. The Police Dog is an advanced Personal Protection Dog. They are trained more extensively in different real life situations. They learn to walk on uneven and unstable ground, grating, jump over 6' fences, go under buildings, and chase and bite the bad guy in various places from a car to moving elevators and on crowded streets.

Obedience Training

Obedience Training is one of the best things you can do for your dog or puppy, and yourself. Obedience training is the foundation for solving just about any problem. Training opens up a line of communication between you and your dog. Effective communication is necessary to instruct your dog about what you want her to do. Dogs can be taught anything from 'stay' (don't run away) to 'sit' (don't jump up on the visitors) to 'off' (don't chew the furniture). Dogs are social animals and without proper training, they will behave like animals. They will soil your house, destroy your belongings, bark excessively, dig holes in your yard, fight other dogs and even bite you. Nearly all behavior problems are perfectly normal canine activities that occur at the wrong time or place or are directed at the wrong thing. For example, the dog will eliminate on the carpet instead of outside; the dog will bark all night long instead of just when a stranger is prowling around outside; or the dog will chew furniture instead of his own toys. The key to preventing or treating behavior problems is learning to teach the dog to redirect his natural behavior to outlets that are acceptable in the domestic setting. Obedience training is also an easy way to establish the social hierarchy. When your dog obeys a simple request of 'come here, sit,' she is showing compliance and respect for you.
